We are back to another Bible Essentials series! The first Bible Essentials series provided a general overview of the story of the Bible. This Bible Essentials series specifically looks at sin, sacrifice, and salvation.
If you need a reminder of what the Bible Essentials series is all about, read this post:
We as humans are born as sinners into a fallen world. In the Old Testament, God provided a system of sacrifice to pay the penalty for sin, but this sacrifice had to be repeated regularly because it could not atone for all sin. However, in the New Testament, God sends the perfect sacrifice—Jesus—to pay the penalty for sin once and for all. Jesus made that sacrifice for you and me. To avoid God’s wrath and the penalty for sin—death—we only have to have faith in Jesus.
In Part 1 of this series, we will look at sin, the law, and the Old Testament sacrificial system for sin.
In Part 2 of this series, we will focus on Jesus as the final sacrifice for sin.
In Part 3 of this series, we will learn how we can be saved from God’s wrath against sin.
Note that several lessons are repeats of lessons from the first Bible Essentials series. I will link to these repeated lessons in the most closely associated new lesson from this series (Substack doesn’t have a way for me to re-send past posts). If you are a new subscriber since the first series was published, I encourage you to read these lessons to get the whole scope of the study.
