So true! He also didn't have the big picture perspective that we have. He didn't know about Jesus or how God would ultimately redeem his people. It was just step-by-step faith. I often wonder whether I would have the same faith in his circumstances. I would hope so, but it seems unlikely. Our sermon in church yesterday was from 1 Peter 1:3-9. One of the points was that although we have to have faith, God is the one who helps us keep our faith. That's the only way that I would be able to have a faith as big as Abraham's!
To give us perspective, Abraham had no Bible, no hymnbook, no church, no Mosaic law. It was a brand new experience. He and God. Something to ponder.
