When you think of God delivering people, what preposition do you use with it? When I first started this study, I always used the word “from”—God delivers people from their enemies. But did you know that the Bible also uses the preposition “to” when talking about God delivering people? Sometimes, when God’s people were being disobedient, he would deliver them to their enemies. This is a totally different approach to the word deliver than what I was familiar with, and the Bible gives us evidence for both. We’ll look more deeply into this difference as we go throughout the study.
God Delivers is one of those characteristics that could be either a role or an action. God is the Deliverer (role), and God Delivers us (action). Most of the time, the word deliver in the Bible is used as an action, so that’s how I’ve approached this one.
